Apart from two years in the RAF back when they still had such a thing as National Service – Sir Peter Blake has devoted his life to art.
During his astonishingly productive career he has moved effortlessly between the realms of fine art and popular culture, with over 300 exhibitions to his credit as well as some of the most iconic music art of the last century including the Beatles' famous Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover. Blake was also involved in two of the biggest music charity events ever, designing the poster for the original Live Aid and for 2005's Live 8 concert.Sir Peter received an honorary doctorate from the Royal College of Art in 1998 and was knighted in 2002.
