Christopher Bailey, 35, joined Burberry in May 2001. In his role as Creative Director, Christopher is responsible for the design of all product lines as well as the definition of the company's overall image and the concept for seasonal advertising.

Prior to his appointment at Burberry, Christopher was Senior Designer of Womenswear at Gucci in Milan, reporting to Tom Ford from 1996 to 2001. From 1994 to 1996 he was Womenswear Designer at Donna Karan.

In July 2003 Christopher was made an honorary fellow of the Royal College of Art from where he graduated with an MA in 1994. In October 2005, he was awarded "Designer of the Year" at the British Fashion Awards. In November 2006 Christopher was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Westminster from where he graduated with a BA in 1990.
