British artist Roger Dean is best known for his dreamy other-worldly work on album covers, which he began painting in the late 1960s. After graduating from the Royal College of Art in London he started out in the field of design - preferring to distinguish between design, or the reworking of existing models, and invention, or the making of something new. He was asked to design a "landscape" of seating for a club belonging to Ronnie Scott. Known primarily for the fantastic landscape scenes he has created for Yes, Budgie, Uriah Heep, Gentle Giant and other bands, Dean has also worked on video game art and on film projects.
Two compilations of his work have been published and his architectural and furniture work have been exhibited in the Victoria and Albert Museum and in the Royal Academy. Fender® Stratocaster® customised with original artwork by Roger Dean
